The company was established in the year of 1879 by a Blacksmith named Moritz Trept who produced Agricultural Tools and Horse shoes that were are branded with the Horseshoe as a mark of quality. Today BISON Großschönauer Werkzeug Schmiede is well known in Europe for Axes, Forestry Tools and other Striking Tools of the highest quality.

Today they use the Horseshoe branding on each Axe – as their mark of commitment for tradition, experience and the highest quality MADE in GERMANY.

The "BISON 1879" Axe is hand forged according using their traditional techniques and proved designs. Their extremely high-quality and traditional products are characterised by their distinctive, masterfully forged surfaces and their long durability which is coming from a first class steel quality and approved hardening process. What's more, every "BISON 1879" Axe comes with a high quality Hickory handle which is first choice for Striking Tools because of it's long durability.
